Thinking about this more this could be captured as a completion stage of started. A commit script could help automate entrance (completion) of this stage. If this makes sense we may be able to mark this as done and provide some documentation to illustrate how to do this.

I'm currently thinking an initial change that I could make here is that stage of a story be coloured (say) orange when it has been assigned, the assumption being that it has been started. This is not as good as detecting that something has been committed to the repository but should be of value.
